Hello!
I am incredibly excited for the 2020-2021 year for the Carolina For The Kids Foundation. Last year we celebrated our 22nd year and it was amazing, and now we are moving forward to do more great things For The Kids. Carolina For The Kids has and always will connect UNC students, our community, and UNC Children’s, and this has never been more important as we face a socially distant year. We provide major emotional, medical, and financial support to the patients and families of UNC Children’s, and that mission is what motivates us to face and overcome this year’s unique challenges.
In 2019 and 2020 we did tremendous work For The Kids. Through our recruitment efforts, Kilometers For The Kids, the Benefit Reception, and the first ever Virtual Dance Marathon, you worked with us to serve the patients and their families. I want to express my sincerest gratitude to our dancers, donors, runners, volunteers, and committee members. None of our accomplishments would be possible without each and every one of you, and we look forward to seeing you again this year however you may support us! We are an organization open to change if it will bring growth, and that has never been truer. As we go into this year, we are welcoming changes that allow us to reach more students, a larger community, and most importantly, more patients and families.
We continue to fund direct aid to families through the For The Kids Fund and a weekly free meal for families at Parent’s Night Out. Our other funding areas are the Carolina For The Kids grant, the Carolina For The Kids research grant, funding for the Children’s Play Atrium, and funding for the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill. We are also incredibly proud to have funded the renovation of the N.C. Children’s Hospital PICU Waiting Room and the sponsorship of the Urgent Care Waiting Room and Recreational and Pet Therapy Room at the UNC Children’s Raleigh Clinic. We are continuing to find new and creative ways to provide support to the patients and their families in this time of heightened need.
As we enter our 23rd year, we will keep our mission statement at the center of all we do. This year has already brought new challenges, new members of our community, more patients and families, exciting accomplishments, and so much more! I was once a frequent children’s hospital patient and know how important support from organizations like CFTK is, and I am incredibly grateful to lead this organization that is so near to my heart. I truly believe we can continue to improve and grow this year, but it will require your help. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or anyone else on our Executive Board to find out how you can get involved this year!
