How to raise for your dancer total over break

11/23/2017

Elizabeth Glontz is a member of the Publicity committee.
Thanksgiving and winter break are just around the corner. The holidays are the perfect time for decorating, spending time with family, sledding all day, and—you guessed it—fundraising for the UNC Dance Marathon!

We all know fundraising can be stressful and time consuming, but trust me: it doesn’t have to be! Here are some simple tips to make fundraising another part of your holiday cheer!

  1. Prepare, prepare, prepare! Call your mom and your friends before you go home and let them know about the cause. They can have time to think about how worthwhile their donations will truly be, and you are sure to get some extra bucks in this season of giving.
  2. Practice makes perfect. Rehearse how you will ask your friends and family members for donations. It can be scary and intimidating, but if you practice in front of a mirror, it will be much less stressful when it comes to the real thing!
  3. Use all of your connections. Text, email, send holiday cards, call, and talk about the Carolina For the Kids cause. The more you spread the message, the more donations you will get!
  4. Remember the value of social media. Post pictures, tweet, and tag all your parent’s friends in a Facebook post about Carolina For the Kids. Make online donations easily accessible—this means posting links and easy directions for your followers.

If you haven’t started fundraising yet, don’t worry! To find your dancer fundraising page, follow the link on your confirmation email to your “participant center,” log in or create your account, and you’re set!

Happy holidays, and happy fundraising!!
