On the last Thursday of September, supporters of Carolina For The Kids filed into Italian Pizzeria III by the dozen to give a slice of their time For the Kids.
This was Carolina FTK’s second benefit night at the popular Franklin Street pizza joint, following in the success of the debut benefit night there last spring. IP3’s continuous goal to support more local charities has led to a budding partnership with Carolina FTK. Ten percent of the night’s proceeds went to Carolina FTK; Their dough-nations mean a lot to us.
IP3 employees felt the love from Carolina FTK as well, as the large crowd was not typical of a Thursday night for the restaurant.
“We had almost every seat in the pizzeria packed, even outside, all coming out for Carolina For The Kids,” said Lorenzo Zagarella, an employee at IP3. “It just shows the extent of the support that the whole school and community has for something like this.”
The restaurant’s endless walls of Italian football and old school Tar Heel memorabilia served as the perfect backdrop for the inflow of past years’ UNC Dance Marathon shirts. Some patrons who were not aware of the benefit night got a tasty exposure to the Carolina FTK cause. IP3 and Carolina FTK enthusiast Sam Green was thrilled to learn that his love for pizza benefitted the families of UNC Children’s.
“I know two things going to a good cause tonight: The pizza going into my tummy, and the funds going to the kids,” said Green.
Last month’s benefit night was so successful, that the restaurant already has the next one in the books for November 17. Be sure to make it to IP3 for that event – no ifs, ands or Pizza Huts about it.
