Stand Up, it's the Sweet Sixteen!!
Carolina For The Kids dancers took their stand at 7pm just in time to tune into the UNC versus Butler game. Dancers gathered together around two big screens to watch the game and cheer on the Tar Heels. UNC School of Media and Journalism professor Lois Boynton emceed and provided dancers with a look at past CFTK events like Kilometers for the Kids and the Benefit Reception.
Senior Megan Kramer, a third year dancer and Carolina basketball's biggest fan, stood and cheered loud and proud for her Heels.
Q: What's it like to start marathon off watching the UNC game?
A: The game only adds to the excitement of Dance Marathon. Everyone loves Carolina basketball and everyone loves this cause, so it's a great combo!
Q: What's the atmosphere like in the gym?
A: Great! People are of course watching the game and cheering along, but there is also a lot of socializing and bonding that will continue for the next 24 hours.
Q: What's better right now: the condition of your bracket or the condition of your feet?
A: Tough question, I actually didn't fill out a bracket because I'm very superstitious. But if I had filled one out, it would not be in a good state, so surprisingly my feet are probably better right now.
Q: What's your post game message to the team?
A: To the basketball team: Sunday is going to be another tough game, but Tar Heel Nation is cheering you on. Leave it all on the court and we will be proud fans!
To my fellow dance marathoners: the next 20 hours will be long but keep in mind the larger meaning behind standing this long. Let that motivate you!
A basketball victory means the Tar Heels are still standing and so are our Carolina FTK dancers!
