CAROLINA FOR THE KIDS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES “25K IN 25 HOURS” EVENT
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – On Wednesday February 24, 2015, Carolina For The Kids Foundation will kick off its “25K in 25 Hours” campaign. From 8 p.m. February 24 until 9 p.m. February 25, all funds raised will count towards this $25,000 goal to benefit N.C. Children’s Hospital.
Brendan Leonard, Carolina FTK Publicity Chair, said he is excited for the challenge of pushing the organization and its supporters to come together and meet the goal. “This is a great opportunity for us to remind the public of our cause and of all the good each donation can do,” said Leonard.
The event begins with Carolina For The Kids Annual “Smith Center Children’s Challenge,” where attendees at the UNC-Chapel Hill men’s basketball game will have the opportunity to donate.
Additionally the organization will host benefit nights, have a “Pie-a-Leader” event on campus, place donation jars in local businesses and hold a fundraising “lock-in.” The lock-in will be an event held from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 25 during which committee members will gather to reach out to their connections and community members to ask for donations.
Executive Director of Carolina FTK, Evan Sherwood, said, “I see this as a chance to boost fundraising and really push ourselves to see how much we can accomplish. Its particularly fitting that the theme this year is ‘Dare to Discover’ because that is exactly what we are doing, daring to discover how much we can achieve.”
This fundraising effort ties into the organization’s overall goal of raising $300,000 before the start of the marathon on March 21, 2015. The current total towards this goal is approximately $32,000. Community members can donate by visiting http://www.carolinaftk.org/.
