LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS TO HOST DANCE MARATHON BENEFITING CFTK
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina For The Kids, formerly known as UNC Dance Marathon, has been assisting East Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Chapel Hill High Schools in planning their first ever dance marathon, which will take place at East Chapel Hill High School on Feb. 20 from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.
“Getting multiple schools involved in a mini marathon has been a huge goal of mine for this year,” CFTK Community Outreach Chair Elizabeth Brown said. “An event like this is one that can continue for years to come and has the potential to grow into something huge. So many high schoolers will hear about our cause on Saturday and will carry that with them into college and make a difference there as well.”
The East Chapel Hill student government has been working with assistance from CFTK and the other two schools to plan and put on the event.
“I’m looking forward to being able to host and hopefully start a tradition of having this event with all three schools,” Davida Halev, student body president of East Chapel Hill High School, said.
Over 100 students from the three high schools have registered, but anyone can attend the marathon. Tickets will be $30 at the door. All proceeds will benefit CFTK, which uses the money to help the patients and families of UNC Children’s.
“I’m looking forward to being able to help make an impact on the kids’ – and their families’ – lives,” Halev said.
