CAROLINA FOR THE KIDS FOUNDATION TO HOST ANNUAL KFTK RACE
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina For The Kids Foundation will host its fifth annual Kilometers For The Kids race on Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Old Well on UNC-Chapel Hill’s campus. The event will feature a one-mile Fun Run and a 5K.
For the second year, CFTK will be partnering with the Office of New Students and Carolina Parent Programs to include KFTK in UNC’s 2016 Family Weekend.
“We are so excited to be hosting this event on Family Weekend again this year,” said Publicity Chair Jacob Blount. “With the one-mile Fun Run and the 5K we really think there is something for everyone and look forward to seeing families enjoying the race together.”
CFTK supports multiple programs and grants for UNC Children’s. These include the For The Kids Fund, which covers costs incurred by families during hospitalization that aren’t otherwise paid for by insurance, the Parents Night Out fund, Carolina Conexiones, a program for bilingual volunteer patient navigators, the Children’s Play Atrium, and Promise Grant and Promise Research Grants. All funds from KFTK will go towards the programs and funds supported by CFTK.
“We work year round to provide support for the patients and families of UNC Children’s and KTFK is an important part of that,” said Executive Director Elizabeth Brown. “We are hoping that the fifth annual race will be even more successful than the ones that came before.”
The 5K will start at 9 a.m., and the Fun Run will begin 15 minutes after at 9:15 a.m. Pre and post-race activities will take place at McCorkle Place, located directly next to the Old Well. There will be light refreshments and an awards ceremony following the event and afterwards, there will be a benefit at Tru Deli.
